WELCOME

Join me in my creative adventures exploring line, texture and colour in abstract art.

Artist Statement

As a visual artist, my work delves into the interconnectedness of all things. Through the language of line, shape, and colour, I seek to illustrate the harmony that binds us and the discord that arises when these bonds are broken, ignored, or disrespected. I present complex concepts using line, shape, and colour, drawing inspiration from childhood landscapes and a commitment to peace and social justice. I enjoy the freedom of learning by trial and error, applying layers and scraping away to discover new possibilities within each project and have fun.

About Me

Born in Oshawa, Ontario, I experienced a privileged upbringing that fostered an awareness of social and economic disparities, profoundly influencing my art. Although my academic studies led to a career in health administration and project management, my passion for art, first ignited in high school media studies, never waned. Over the years, I enjoyed numerous and varied art classes, but I was always keenly aware of my aspiration to embrace the life of an artist. Retirement has provided me with this opportunity. My art explores themes of memory, power dynamics, and social issues. I draw inspiration from my childhood landscapes and use layered techniques and various tools to create. I remain a proud Canadian and draw my artistic influences from the art of Lauren Harris. My commitment to social causes, particularly support for women's education in Afghanistan, is a recurring theme in her evocative depictions.
